Circuit + Tabata workouts mix strength circuits with cardio tabatas. They’re like a bootcamp class in your living room! The exact format will vary a little from class to class, but in all you can expect a mix of strength exercises and cardio exercises. In the strength circuits, I give you four-five exercises, each performed for 45 seconds, for three-four sets. In the tabatas, I give you two exercises, and you alternate between them using an interval structure of 20 seconds work and 10 seconds rest X8.

Circuit Pulse + Tabata Class Format
Circuit Pulse + Tabata classes switch up the format just slightly by adding in—you guessed it!—pulsing. The pulsing is just added to the circuit. You do 30-45 seconds of the full range exercise followed by 15 seconds of pulsing, rest, and move on to the next.

Circuit + Tabata Classes with Resistance Bands
We’ll incorporate resistance band exercises into these workouts. If you’re looking for band recommendations:
- This is the set of resistance band loops I have. I like that the lighter ones have a big range of motion—makes them versatile.
- I use this set of long bands with handles. The handles clip on and off you can create lots of variations in weight.

Sliding exercises are incorporated into these Circuit + Tabata workouts. If you’re working out on hardwood floors, dish towels work great as sliders. If you’re working out on carpet, try paper plates. Or, you can always purchase a set of disc gliders.

Circuit + Tabata Classes with a Stepper
We use a stepper for these classes. Either a small step or long step bench will work. If you’re short on space, this is the stepper I have. I love the adjustable risers, makes it so versatile.
