I can’t quite wrap my head around the fact that I’m out of the fourth trimester and have a three-month-old. It somehow feels like I’ve had her so, so much longer … and also that it’s gone by in a blink of an eye. But I’ll spare you the glossy-eyed motherhood reflections and get right to it: These were my most-used baby products during the first three months. Hopefully if you’re pregnant, putting together a registry, or a new mom, this is helpful! Every baby and family situation is so different, but I found myself using these baby products daily (or close to it).

My Most-Used Baby Products (0-3 Months)
Solly Wrap
I love baby wearing so much. Not only from a practical standpoint—hands-free for dog walks!— but it’s the sweetest having your little nugget cozy up against your chest. The Solly wrap is so soft, and was my go-to the first two months when the baby was tiny. (I have a big baby, so after those first two months, I did find myself reaching for my carrier instead of my wrap.)
It takes a little practice putting it on, but once you get the hang of it, I found it extremely comfortable and secure. @karrie_locher (my favorite ig account for all things motherhood!) has a great tutorial saved to her highlights for putting on the Solly wrap if you want some guidance.
Ergobaby Omni 360 Carrier
This carrier is a bit intense for a newborn, but after the first six weeks, I’ve loved it. They do have a newborn insert you can buy for it, but I have a big baby so after those initial weeks I didn’t feel it was necessary for me to purchase. I love that it’s easy to put on solo (do the criss-cross straps) and is versatile: you can front carry with the baby facing you, facing out as they gain head control, and then you can back carry when they’re bigger. I hear from many moms who still use the back carry with their toddlers, so I know I’m going to get a ton of use out of it! Is it the cutest carrier on the market? No — it looks like tactical hiking gear — but functionally, it’s great.
I have it in the cotton material, which is a little rough (feels a bit like Carhartt pants lol), but it definitely has softened with wear and washes. It comes in a mesh material as well, which is cooler and may be a better option if you live in a warm climate.
I was torn between buying the Omni 360 and the Embrace, and ultimately think I’m going to get more use out of the Omni 360 long term. But worth mentioning that other moms say the Embrace is awesome for newborns and softer than the 360 (but they will outgrow it faster than the 360).
My Brest Friend Nursing Pillow
Of all the most-used baby products, this might be the winner. Between cluster feeding and contact naps, I basically just wore this thing around the house 24/7 the first two months. I love that it clips around the waist so that it will stay up as you move around. It creates a perfect shelf for breastfeeding and also contact naps. The pocket is handy for storing pacifiers or nipple pads or your phone.
I would go with the Super Deluxe version (I have the original and then was gifted the Super Deluxe). The Super Deluxe is thicker, which brings the baby closer to your boobs without you having to hunch forward as much (especially handy if you’re tall).
Parker Burp Cloths
My favorite burp cloths! I love the larger size and how soft they are (and softer with every wash!). Super absorbent, and love that they’re on the thinner side so you can really get in those cute baby neck rolls and wipe up messes. If you purchase directly from their website, the code NICOLEPEARCE will save you 10% or you can buy from Amazon.
Worth noting that I also love the Burt’s Bees Burp Cloths. Absorbent and thin enough to get in those nooks and crannies. A list of most-used baby products would not be complete without burp cloths — those first few months you really can’t have enough. Even with ten floating around my house, I still ended up covered in spit up most days lol.
Convertible Onesies with a Double Zipper
In those early weeks when you’re barely leaving the house, it’s easiest to just have your baby wearing onesies. I love ones that fold over the hands AND feet so that the hands and feet can be covered at night and uncovered during play time (babies get lots of sensory input from their feet so ideally they’re barefoot while on their play mat). A double zipper is helpful at night when doing diaper changes.
My two favorite brands are Little Sleepies and Caden Lane. Their onesies are so soft, the quality is great, and the material is stretchy so that they don’t instantly outgrow them. They’re not cheap, but worth the cost because they do last longer.
Honorable mention to Old Navy’s onesies. These are footies, so you don’t have the option to uncover the feet, but I do really like them for night time. I have the cotton ones and the ribbed ones. The cotton ones are softer and warmer, but not as stretchy (she outgrew them quickly). The ribbed ones are thinner but stretchier and have fit her longer.
Worth mentioning that lots of moms swear by the magnetic onesies but I never ended up trying them. Whatever you do, avoid snaps though (too much work). Zippers and/or magnets ftw!
Sleep Sacks
These won’t make the list of most-used baby products for everyone at first. Every baby is different, so these might not be something you use until baby is out of a swaddle. But because I never swaddled, at nighttime I do onesie pajamas under a sleep sack with arms out. The two brands I really like are ergoPouch and Kyte Baby. I didn’t utilize these, but FYI both have a swaddling option: With ergoPouch you zip the arms up into the sack and with Kyte Baby they have a Swaddler sack that has a swaddling attachment.
When shopping for sleep sacks, keep the TOG in mind. The TOG corresponds to the thickness/warmness of the sleep sack. So if baby is sleeping in a cool room, you’d want a 2.5 TOG. If the room is warmer, you can do .5 – 1.5 TOG, accordingly.
And before you give me sh*t for mentioning Kyte Baby, yes I know the brand got canceled for their maternity leave policy! Call me an opportunist, but as soon as they got canceled, I went on Poshmark and made a bunch of lowball offers to sellers and got a few secondhand for dirt cheap and I do really like them lol. There are lots of similar brands if you don’t want to support Kyte Baby, but these are the ones I own.
Lovevery Playmat and Fisher Price Playmat
Are two playmats necessary? No, but I really do love both and use both daily. I have one set up in the nursery and one set up downstairs in our sunroom so we can get a change of scenery throughout the day. Might sound silly, but the newborn phase can be like Groundhog’s Day and it’s nice to have different baby play “stations” through the house.
The Lovevery one is better quality. The Fisher-Price one is more gaudy, but the music is actually so catchy (I know every lyric by heart at this point lol) and you can flip the piano part horizontally when baby is old enough to sit up.
Baby Bjorn Bouncer
Love this thing for when you need to put the baby down! When I need to shower, I set it up in the bathroom and hang a mobile off a towel rack in front of it to keep the baby occupied. You can also buy activity bars that attach to it, which I haven’t purchased yet but am going to.
Every baby is different, and I know some prefer swings, but I found I never used my swing.
Portable Non-Wifi Baby Monitor
In a few months when she moves into the nursery, I’m going to mount a Nanit monitor on the wall above her crib (will report back on how I like it!), but for these early months, she’s sleeping in our room and a portable non-wifi monitor is nice. This will also be great for bringing with me when we spend time at my parents’ house this summer.
Car Monitor
Speaking of monitors, this car monitor is admittedly not totally necessary (a mirror works, too!), but I love it. I suppose the cord going from the front to back seat isn’t ideal, but if you just tuck it next to the seat it’s really a non-issue. I love that I can see her while she’s rear-facing, and it works at night in the dark, too. Great for a nervous first-time mom lol.
Egg Light
Oh how I love this portable light! A nighttime diaper change necessity. You can dim it by placing your hand on top of it, and you can also switch the color mode. I keep it on red light, which supposedly is the least disruptive to sleep (and keeping that baby sleepy during midnight diaper changes is key!).
Mobile above Changing Table
Oh how my little girl hated diaper changes those first few weeks! Hanging a mobile above the changing pad helped a lot by giving her something to look at — she’s mesmerized by this thing. Babies see high-contrast best when they’re newborns so I went with a black and white mobile, but I’ll probably change it out for something colorful soon.
The mount is sold separately FYI. This is the one I bought, but I had to have my dad saw it down a little shorter so it wouldn’t stick out quite as far. So just check the measurements and compare it to your changing table depth.
Nail File
Who knew newborn fingernails could be so sharp?! This file is awesome and has different head attachments based on their age.
Nasal Aspirator
The hospital sent us home with a little suction bulb, but this Frida one is so much more effective for clearing out her little nostrils. It’s weird but it’s awesome. I wouldn’t say it was one of my most-used baby products as far as frequency, but when I did need it, dang does it get the job done!
Cosleeper Bassinet
Listing this last because when it comes to sleep, every baby (and family situation) is SO different. For me, a cosleeper bassinet felt like the best of both worlds. Baby has her own safe space, but I was still laying right next to her and could reach out to soothe her. Plus it was nice not having to get out of bed to feed her — could just sit up and reach right over for her.
I also loved that this bassinet was on the larger size because again, big baby lol.
